Silver Glaciers
Teetering on the edge of humanity,
She stands, bold and brazen
Gazing determinedly at the 175 degree slope before her
She traces a cross on her padded chest.
The icey wind slaps her face
Peeling off several layers of her numb skin
Her body, although seemingly rigid,
Glides gracefully through the banks of elegant snow.
What does she feel, I would like to imagine.
Is it the unbearable cold that takes over her entirely?
Or is it the overwhelming intensity of her focus?
Whichever way, her graceful poise and gait hides it all.
The delicate design of her skiis
Make a swooshing sound as they turn corners
Rapidly transporting her down the slope
Engaging groups of curious people.
She lifts her eyes from the slope for a second
Astonished by the picturesque view
The off-white glaciers reflected the sun's glare
She squinted to prevent the sunlight obscuring her view.
Oncemore, she glanced up,
The mountain's trees gave off a bluish tinge
Their fronds weighed down by the morning's downpour of snow
Making its surroundings even colder than it really was.
Feeling her legs cutting through the knee's-deep of snow
A sudden emotion of elation welled inside her
As she turned a sharp corner
She glanced up and was amazed.
Her thoughts and emotions ended
The journey down, as fast as it had started.
